Tom Clarke

Tom has long had State Farm in his blood. When he was just a boy, his dad joined State Farm as a claims adjuster. Tom Sr. always spoke proudly with his son of the down-to-earth culture of the company, and taking care of people by following through on claims handling. Tom Sr. retired as a Northeast Divisional Claims Superintendent. But long before he did, he landed his son his first insurance job while he was still in high school, adjusting small “slip and fall” claims for supermarket chains at his friend’s small adjustment bureau. After graduating from Niagara University, and at his dad’s urging, Tom joined State Farm as a claims adjuster on Long Island before moving to Albany and becoming the company’s first Capital District in-house Homeowner’s claims adjuster. Seven years later, he opened his agency and has “loved being an insurance professional, businessowner, and team leader ever since.” Tom’s passion for people results in his agency being “like a second family” to him.

Tom and his wife Karen have four adult daughters and three grandchildren. They spend much of their leisure time traveling and enjoying most outdoor activities, including golf and hiking. They love listening to all types of music, and one of Tom’s favorite hobbies is writing about music recordings and concerts.

East Greenbush has been the Clarke family’s home since 1991, and Tom and Karen and the agency are longstanding members of the Rensselaer Country Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Tom Clarke State Farm Insurance Agency regularly supports the police and fire departments, school sports teams, other small businesses, and charitable organizations in their town and in the surrounding communities of Albany, Rensselaer, Troy, Brunswick, Averill Park, Schodack, Castleton, West Sand Lake, Poestenkill, and others.
